A Butchery, in Gem City, was robbed, allegedly by an ex-employee. The staff member on duty alleges that she was at work at the cash office, distributing coins to the cashiers. When she was leaving the cash office, she was pushed back into the cash office. She identified an ex-employee, who hit her with a firearm on the face. The suspect demanded her cell phone but it was at the cash register. She was instructed to open the safe, where the assailant stole cash into a black bag. When the suspect opened the door, the victim saw another Black male who pretended to be a customer. Despite threats for her not to scream, she did and both suspects fled on foot. One suspect was arrested.

A reward for honesty: A woman’s handbag that was stolen in a house robbery was recovered and returned to the police by a honest member of the public. Mr Nduduzo Fana Dlamini was driving along Fernham Drive when he saw a handbag lying on the road. Upon inspection, he discovered documents within and proceeded to the SAPS station to hand in the handbag. Co-incidentally, the owner of the handbag was at the police station at the same time. The bag was handed over to the lawful owner, who was ecstatic to obtain some of her things back that she rewarded Mr Dlamini with R200 for his effort and honesty.

Firearm, sword, machete recovered in vehicle: rapid response by police officers saw the discovery of a unlicensed firearm, sword and machete from an Indian male. Acting to information about the illegal gun, officers intercepted and searched the suspect’s vehicle. Concealed under the vehicle dashboard was a .38 Rossi Special with 5 live rounds of ammunition. The sword and machete were also recovered.
